What must a GST tax invoice contain?
- Supplier name, address and GSTIN
- Unique, sequential invoice number and date
- Recipient name, address and GSTIN (for B2B)
- HSN/SAC, description, quantity, taxable value
- Rate and amount of CGST, SGST/UTGST or IGST
- Place of supply and total in figures and words
How tax type is decided
If your state and the place of supply are the same, the tool splits GST into CGST + SGST. If they differ, it applies IGST. Special place-of-supply rules (e.g. for services) may change this. Verify before issuing.
